Tony Roma’s Malaysia chosen as the regional training centre for Asia Pacific On May 28, 2014, Tony Roma’s Malaysia was announced as the Regional Training Centre (RTC) for the Asia Pacific region, due to its highly skilled professionals, easy accessibility and cost-effectiveness. The comprehensive training provided includes: customer service, cooking, food preparation, food hygiene, supply chain and cost management, using the latest kitchen equipment and operational procedures to Tony Roma’s franchises and employees across this region.
Tony Roma’s Sunway Pyramid outlet was chosen as the Training Centre because it is the largest outlet, with high customer patronage and is located in the best shopping mall in the country, thus providing the ideal on-site environment for learning and training. It was also the first Tony Roma’s outlet to open in Malaysia.
On July 14, 2014, four enterprising managers from Myanmar arrived in Malaysia for the TR training program. They underwent the entire program with gusto. From the first day, these managers showed a very positive attitude towards the training modules. They overcome every obstacle with flying colours. The drive for success was evident. They started off very well; spending 4 weeks in the Back Of the House (BOH); learning all the preparations of the food according to the Tony Roma’s way. Grilling, cooking, cutting, roasting, sautéing & frying automatically became their daily routine. With the help of the In-Store trainers, recipes & SOP’s, these promising managers managed to learn all the kitchen knowledge given.
Shake, Rattle & Roll…these are the words that best describe them when they were at the Front Of the House (FOH) Bar training. Here, this Fantastic Four have learned to balance themselves between work & fun. Ushering the guests, delivering the difference & executing the 5 steps of service – became the norm. They have showed very good communications skills towards all the staff during GO! Rallies.
Towards the end of the training program, their problem-solving skills have incredibly improved. It’s been a very wonderful experience to have them here in Tony Roma’s Sunway Pyramid. They have done themselves proud. It’s sad to see them leave but happy knowing that they are capable of taking Tony Roma’s to greater heights and success in Myanmar. The four participants completed the strigent program successfully and each received the ‘Train the Trainer’ and MIT certificates. The managers depart for Myanmar on August 31. Tony Roma’s first outlet in Myanmar is slated to open at Sayasan Road, Bahan T/S, Yangon, Myanmar in November 2014.
